Design a Bauhaus inspired A3 poster for an open night at Stella Maris College 2012.
Process:
First we research different types of posters that appealed to us and that we thought were effective. We also looked into the history of posters and how they have changed over the years.
We focused on researched the Bauhaus design period and the architecture, fonts, furniture and posters that was used with Bauhaus designs. We also made a mindmap helping us understand the role of a Graphic Designer and creating posters. This was an easy and quick way to learn.
Above is the design I created using what I thought were representative to the Bauhaus Design. This includes diagonal lines, the actual Bauhaus font, flat colours and the use of only three and a dynamic layout.
Creating my Bauhaus Poster for Stella Alive:
First we had a look at photos that had been taken of the school itself and chose 3 which we thought were effective and showed a Bauhaus connection. I felt that this photo below related with the diagonal lines and the use of certain colours.
I then cropped the building on the right out with the fence infront and deleted the rest of the photo. I decided to use this building on the right as the main aspect.
I copied and flipped the building onto the other side so it was a symmetrical looking poster.
I added the information onto the poster using diagonals and different colours and this it what my poster finished up as:
